Open Podium | Open Mic 🎤 Music • Poetry • Comedy • Stories & More!

We already have 10 amazing acts lined up! Including poetry, guitar, singing, storytelling and comedy! Some artists will be performing on stage for the first time, and some are already experienced. It’s going to be a wonderful night 🤩

Always wanted to try stand-up? Have a poem gathering dust in your notes app? Miss performing since you moved to the Netherlands? Join us for DLC’s first-ever Open Mic Night – a welcoming, multilingual evening where you can share your creativity (or just enjoy the show!).

🎤 All forms of expression welcome: Music, poetry, storytelling, comedy, spoken word, dance, or whatever you want to share. Perform in Dutch, English, or any language. Beginners actively encouraged!

This month’s theme

The theme is ‘Seasons’. Feel free to take it in any direction you like!

How the evening works

  • 🚪 19:00 Grab a drink, settle in, soak up the pre-show buzz
  • 🎭 19:30–20:30 First half – 7 incredible performances
  • ☕ 20:30–20:45 Break – last chance to sign up for a spot!
  • ✨ 20:45–21:30 Second half – more amazing acts
  • 🍻 21:30+ Hang out, celebrate, chat with performers (café open until 22:30)

What you can do:

  • 🎸 Play music (bring your own instrument, or use our piano)
  • 📖 Read poetry or a short story you’ve written
  • 🎭 Try stand-up comedy or storytelling
  • 💃 Dance or movement performance
  • 🎤 Spoken word, slam poetry, or a monologue
  • 🎹 Sing (we have a microphone!)

Perform solo or in a group (max 5 people on stage). Any language welcome – this is a multilingual evening! Never performed before? No worries, this is your safe space to try.

Come support your fellow creatives! There’s something magical about live performance in an intimate setting. You’ll laugh, you’ll feel moved, you might discover your new favourite local artist.

Why perform at an open mic?

Whether you’re testing new material, practising Dutch, overcoming stage fright, or just love sharing your art – open mics are where creativity thrives. Our community is supportive, enthusiastic, and here to cheer you on (not judge you!).

First-timer nerves? We get it. Everyone in the room has been there. The beauty of 7 minutes? Even if you’re shaking the whole time, it’ll be over before you know it. And the high afterwards? Worth it.

What to bring

Heb je altijd al stand-up willen proberen? Ligt er een gedicht stof te verzamelen in je notities-app? Mis je optreden sinds je naar Nederland bent verhuisd? Kom naar DLC’s allereerste Open Podium – een gastvrije, meertalige avond waar je je creativiteit kunt delen (of gewoon van de show kunt genieten!).

🎤 Alle vormen van expressie welkom: Muziek, poëzie, verhalen vertellen, comedy, gesproken woord, dans, of wat je ook maar wilt delen. Treed op in het Nederlands, Engels, of een andere taal. Beginners worden actief aangemoedigd!

Het thema is ‘Seizoenen’. Voel je vrij om het in elke richting te interpreteren die je wilt!

Hoe de avond verloopt

  • 🚪 19:00 Pak een drankje, installeer je, geniet van de pre-show sfeer
  • 🎭 19:30–20:30 Eerste helft – 7 geweldige optredens
  • ☕ 20:30–20:45 Pauze – laatste kans om je in te schrijven!
  • ✨ 20:45–21:30 Tweede helft – nog meer geweldige acts
  • 🍻 21:30+ Blijf hangen, vier het, praat met artiesten (café open tot 22:30)

Wil je optreden?

📝 Schrijf je hier in om een van de 10 vooraf te reserveren slots te bemachtigen (7 minuten per persoon)

Of: Schrijf je in op de avond zelf voor een van de 5 walk-in slots tijdens de pauze!

Wat je kunt doen:

  • 🎸 Muziek spelen (neem je eigen instrument mee, of gebruik onze piano)
  • 📖 Poëzie of een kort verhaal voorlezen dat je hebt geschreven
  • 🎭 Stand-up comedy of verhalen vertellen proberen
  • 💃 Dans- of bewegingsperformance
  • 🎤 Gesproken woord, slam poetry, of een monoloog
  • 🎹 Zingen (we hebben een microfoon!)

Treed solo of in een groep op (max 5 mensen op het podium). Elke taal welkom – dit is een meertalige avond! Nog nooit opgetreden? Geen zorgen, dit is jouw veilige plek om het te proberen.

Wil je alleen kijken?

Kom je mede-creatievelingen supporten! Er is iets magisch aan live optredens in een intieme setting. Je zult lachen, je zult geraakt worden, misschien ontdek je wel je nieuwe favoriete lokale artiest.

Waarom optreden bij een open podium?

Of je nu nieuw materiaal test, Nederlands oefent, podiumangst overwint, of gewoon van kunst delen houdt – open podia zijn waar creativiteit floreert. Onze community is ondersteunend, enthousiast, en hier om je aan te moedigen (niet om te oordelen!).

Zenuwen als eerste keer? We snappen het. Iedereen in de zaal is daar geweest. Het mooie van 7 minuten? Zelfs als je de hele tijd staat te trillen, is het voorbij voor je het weet. En de high daarna? De moeite waard.
