You would like to prepare for your holiday and/or brush up on your Spanish and successfully move up to the next level?
We have years of experience in helping people become more confident with their Dutch using our unique method. Now we would like to help you improve your Spanish in the same way. This course is perfect for people who have already done a basic course or self study and would like to become more confident with their language use and would like to express themselves more authentically and fluently.

On Sunday, June 28th at 13:00 we plan to have a typical Spanish/Latino Lunch combined with Spanish Practice, guided by our Spanish teachers Julia and Iris. A great way to get to know your teacher, see if you like our method, and just enjoy good food and practice Spanish with others!
Meet your teachers
Hi! I’m Iris. Being of Peruvian-French descent I grew up speaking Spanish, French and English and I developed a deep love for languages and the connections they create. I enjoy helping people build confidence while discovering not only the Spanish language, but also the rich cultures, traditions, and perspectives that come with it. ¡Tengo muchas ganas de compartir mi lengua materna con vosotro/as!
¡Hola! My name is Júlia and I come from the sunny city of Barcelona. I was raised bilingual (Castilian and Catalan), so languages have always been something very present in my life, and it is something I am very passionate about! Anytime I travel I try to learn the basics of the language as I believe it is through them that we create the most beautiful human connections! ¡Espero conoceros!
What do the lessons look like?
We usually start with a check-in: How has everyone’s week been? We try to answer this mostly in Spanish.
Then we do a few Spanish practice activities. They are usually very fun activities, such as creating a funny story together, talking about pictures on our phones, playing a ‘true or false’ guessing game, making drawings, playing simple games, listening to a song or reading a book together, and so on. We laugh a lot during the sessions and often classmates end up as friends as well.
During these activities the teacher will speak Spanish, but in a very simple, slow way, so that everyone understands. This way you will learn Spanish naturally, by getting lots input. No grammar book in sight!
Of course, you get to practice speaking too. Your teacher will coach you on the five ‘speaking skills’. These are skills that help you go from ‘knowing some words’ to having real conversations. For example, you learn what to do if you want to say something but don’t know the Spanish word, or if someone speaks Spanish to you and you are completely lost.
We also encourage learning outside of the sessions: we coach you on what you can study at home and how you can integrate Spanish learning with the things you already do in you daily life. And we try to make the sessions a bit of a cultural experience as well!
Which level?
The course is given for people with about A1-A2 level: for example, you’ve done a basic course, or have used an app, and you want to improve your speaking ability. As our main focus is improving actual speaking confidence, it’s ok if some people know a bit more words than others: we are all working on conversation skills anyway.

No worries, we provide all materials needed for the program.
Homework:
We don’t give you mandatory homework activities but we provide you with suggestions of ways you can continue learning Spanish outside of the sessions.
Community access
The course comes with two months of community membership. Of course, most of these activities are focused in on Dutch and not Spanish. However, we do usually have a Spanish table at our Thursday evening language exchange, and we will organize more Spanish-related activities in the future.
The details: Upon registration you will receive a discount code that makes your first two months of membership free, except for €0.50 activation costs. Your membership will then continue automatically, so don’t forget to cancel if you only want to use your two months of free membership. You can of course also try our events without activating a membership by paying the event entry fees.
Group size
We work with SMALL FOCUSED GROUPS of between 5 and 9 students.
English
Some parts of the course will be in English (introductions and more complex explanations), so a basic English level of participants is assumed.
Frequently Asked Questions
What about grammar? Don’t you need to study grammar to learn a language?
During the course, we focus on acquiring grammar naturally through extensive comprehensible input. Over time, correct grammar will feel instinctive, without knowing the exact rules. This approach is more effective than memorizing complex grammar rules, which can hinder your ability to speak fluently in real conversations, as in real conversations you don’t have time to think about these rules, you just have to speak!
We are not the only ones who believe this is an effective way to learn. Research supports learning through comprehensible input. If you want to read more about it, see for example this page.
What happens if I miss a session?
We recommend to be available for most sessions for maximum results. However, if you miss one or two sessions, you can still get a lot of value out of the course. Missed sessions are in principle non refundable. However, if you miss a session, contact us and we will look for solutions.
