Study Club: Learn Dutch Together!

Meet up weekly with the same group to really study Dutch together. Work through textbooks, practice exercises, help each other with tricky grammar, and build your vocabulary – all while making friends who are on the same language learning journey as you!

Important: This is not a lesson – it’s a study group where you take initiative and learn from each other.

What happens in a study club session?

Each week we meet at the Dutch Language Café to study together. There’s no teacher – this is about peer learning and supporting each other. You’re expected to take initiative! Sometimes there’s a native speaker helping, but not always.

Example session:

  • Catch up – Everyone shares a story from their week in Dutch!
  • Study together – Do exercises from the textbook: reading, listening, speaking, writing
  • Vocabulary recap – Share new words in the WhatsApp group

A big perk of joining a study club is that you see the same people each week and build real social connections!

It is not uncommon for studieclub members to become friends and start meeting up outside of the sessions! And occasionally studying together on a ‘terrasje’ or ‘op het strand’ is also possible 😉

What should you bring?
Just a notebook! Some materials are available at the café. What the group will study together is decided in the first session.

How it works

Commitment & Schedule

  • 6-week blocks: When you sign up, you commit to the full 6 weeks
  • Frequency: Some study clubs meet once per week, others twice per week – check the specific study club you’re interested in
  • WhatsApp groups: After the first session, you’ll be added to the general Studieclubs WhatsApp and your specific group chat. Let others know if you’re running late or can’t make it
  • Break & renewal: After 6 weeks there’s a one-week break, then you can sign up for the next block
  • Consistency matters: It’s important you can attend most sessions to keep up with the group
  • Try first: Of course, you can first give it a try and see if it’s for you before fully committing!

Location

Studieclubs take place at the Dutch Language Café in the city centre: Herengracht 13A, 2511EG, The Hague (right next to The Hague Central Station).
