Our community is best suited for people who can already speak some Dutch in group settings. Don’t speak Dutch yet? We highly recommend to follow our beginners courses! You also get free community membership during your course.

Why join as a native speaker?
DLC is not only about Dutch learning. It is above all a community where you can meet new people with similar interests while doing fun activities. You also help in creating a supportive space for Dutch learners, but it is nothing like being a teacher! Approximately 1 in 4 members is a native speaker, and everyone is equal in the community.

How does it work?

As a member you pay a monthly fee to be able to participate in all activities.

There are many different activities, such as board games, cooking, movie nights, knitting, BBQs, picnics, walks on the beach, parties, co-working, Dutch traditional parties, and much more.

During those activities, there is a mix of Dutch learners and native speakers. Everyone tries to speak Dutch, but of course it is ok if your Dutch is slow and full of mistakes. We are all there to help! This way you build your confidence with speaking.

Some activities are also organized by members! Joining a team of active members is also a good way to make new connections and practice your Dutch at a higher level.

The DLC is truly a safe place to meet amazing new people! Everyone is very friendly & patient and the cafe has a cosy atmosphere as well. Improving my Dutch has never been so easy and entertaining: Even after the first activity, I have felt much more confident speaking Dutch. I wish I have explored DLC years ago! If you are new to The Hague, would like to improve you Dutch, or simply just want to meet some new people, the DLC is probably the best place to go!

Outside the Dutch Language Café I don’t have a lot of opportunities to speak Dutch, because at many other activities in the city people speak English. But here you have a chance to speak Dutch with real Dutch natives and get to know their culture and habits. It’s the best way to learn Dutch in The Hague!
