Meet the Dutch Language Café team!

Roben Scholten

Founder & General Manager

Hey! I’m Roben. Originally from the south, from Brabant, so I still pronounce the ‘soft g’, but I since found my place in the west! I love games, sports, and meeting new people. Sometimes I pick up the guitar to play some blues and you can also find me in a boulder gym!

I believe in learning a language in a playful way. I started Dutch Language Café in 2019 when I came back from a trip to Spain. Since then it has grown and I’m so proud of what we have achieved and excited to grow even more. Read more about my story here!

Eloise Salmon

Community Manager

Hey, I’m Eloise, community manager at Dutch Language Café. Language learning is my passion, and I learnt Dutch mostly at here at DLC! I also love board games, reading, coding and arts and crafts.

As the community manager, I’m the first point of contact for members and make sure we have an exciting calendar filled with high-quality events. I also manage our wonderful volunteers and take care of the website and membership admin.

Cafe Manager

I love etymology, languages, and discovering the stories behind words! When I first moved to the Netherlands, I had a hard time speaking Dutch, but thanks to the Dutch Language Café, I feel more and more comfortable. It’s a great place with a friendly atmosphere where people come together to learn and connect. I’m responsible for keeping things running smoothly in our cozy café and community center, as well as organizing external events.

Social Media & Marketing

Coming from a tropical island I’m still adjusting to the Dutch winters, but other than that, I love it here.

I manage the marketing & sales aspect of the café and am in charge of the social media.

Hi, I’m Aynur! I love coffee, yoga, and meeting new people. As a barista at DLC, I enjoy creating a welcoming atmosphere and making great coffee with care. Looking forward to serving you!

Hi I’m Maša and I’m a part time barista at the Dutch Language Cafe. As someone who had to learn Dutch and is now fluent I want to help others to also become confident in speaking the language. Let’s all enjoy the Dutch culture together!

Part Time Barista & Full Time Ambassador!

Olá! I’m Reza. I believe that language is a tool to connect us all together. DLC is the place to learn the Dutch language in a unique way.

As a barista I love to chat with you, know your name and make you a delicious cappuccino. As an ambassador I believe in the concept of DLC and I spread the word.

Hi, I’m Yari. I’m half French and half German, and grew up in Canada.

I ran my own language café club in university, so when I saw Dutch Language Café I knew it would be a great place for me!
